Progress Report 1

Background

The Mohamed Bin Zayed International Robotics Challenge (MBZIRC) is an international robotics competition organized by Khalifa University. The goal of MBZIRC is to demonstrate the current scientific and technological achievements in robotics and to create innovation in the field of robotics.

Virginia Tech has been accepted as one of 45 teams to compete!

Challenge Description

Challenge 1: Autonomously locate and land a UAV (drone) on the back of a moving truck.
Challenge 2: Autonomously locate and operate a valve stem with a UGV (ground vehicle).
Challenge 3: Autonomously locate, pick, and place static and moving objects using three UAVs.
Challenge 4: Challenge 1, 2, and 3 simultaneously.

Drony was designed and built by students here at VT. He will be getting four additional siblings soon, for a total of five UAVs in the fleet.
